EMP effects can cover a lot more area. Depends on the height of detonation, and the type of bomb.

Hence it using the power grid to cause the most damage and spread the farthest.
Actually until we experience it 1st hand this is mostly conjecture yes.

Noted. So put some light bulbs in that metal trash can with the genny. Because the surge is gonna blow ALL the bulbs online at the time.

OK, LEDs in the can, incandescents on a shelf. (EMP shouldnt fry the filaments just sitting in a box.)

EDIT: Just stick them ALL in the can. Better safe than sorry.
