encore vs. contender

I was thinking about buying my son one of these for christmas in .223. I dont know much about them. I guess what is the diffrence and which is better.

There are more contender barrels & parts out there, they aren't interchangeable with encore, but the encore will handle more powerful calibers. Now you decide which one to pick

Go with the encore, it will give you more options for calibers in the long run. The encore is just a bigger version of the contender able to handle more powerful rounds.
