Curt Hoagland is a damn fine engraver in central-Indiana. Unfortunately, he only does 18th century weapons.

ScouT6a is that one of tham CVA's with the fire burned pine stock schached brass things on it. ;) That is sure a nice looking flintlock. How about a little info on it. Tiger maple stock looks great. Is it a reproduction or the real deal, Like the patch box engraving.

I like the engraving. No I don't think it will wear well. But this is not a carry gun. It is not very deep. When David at Max's jewelry first completed the project he had made a mistake on one of the dates. So he actually had to hand remove the finish and redo the engraving. You can actually see the matte finished removed if you look close enough. But mistakes will happen and he fixed it as best he could. I am not unhappy. Besides my wife bought me this gun to shoot, so it will get dinged up.

    Warren5421,
This is a reproduction rifle. It is about a year and a half old. It is a blending of Isaac Haines and Jacob Dickert styles, both 18th century gun builders in Pennsylvania. It has a 38 inch, "B" weight, .50 caliber swamped barrel with round bottom rifling. The stock is a grade 3 Curly Maple. Mountings are brass except for the patch box which has a Stirling silver flower finial. All of the engraving is hand done with single point gravers.
This rifle was built by a great friend of mine as a retirement gift when I retired from the Army.

From the pictures it is sure nice. I have handled one of Isaac Haines rifles that a friend of my dad's had. His name was Haines and he was part owner of a chevy dealership in South Webster, Ohio. Said the rifle was made by some kinfolk back 2-3 generations ago.
