The EPA has dictated, without any new law passed by Congress, that gas stations may not sell less than 4 gallons of gasoline per customer. As I write this, the minimum price you will pay at the pump, according to this rule, will be around $16.00.

Aside from just being a dictatorial move from an out-of-control bureaucracy, this complicates the lives of people with only a few dollars in their pockets, people on motorcycles and scooters with small gas tanks, and people trying to fill up a small portable gas tank for their lawnmower.

    EPA's four-gallon minimum mandate

Clarification: Applies to ETHANOL E15 gas only.

Just out of curiosity, is this being reported anywhere else? I'd like to read something that had the details rather than just a rant.

No doubt that the administrative agencies have been running off the rails for at least 70 years, but I'd rather see the regulation for myself rather than read a rant from a Republican Congressman.

People on Mopeds and motorcyclists with small tanks are screwed.

My motorcycle tank is about 5gallons... 1 gallon sits in the reserve tank which means I will basically have to run the bike until it runs out of gas... (at which point I will have to switch to the reserve tank)... And then run it on reserve for a little bit to free up 4 gallons of space in my tank....

    WTF?

There's a fire and lawsuit waiting to happen.

The Supreme Court will just say the .gov can impose the "tax" (ie. extra gas you don't need) and call it a day. After all, the .gov can tax you for a stamp before you can have a rifle with an arbituray barrel lenght, and tax you to have health insurance.

So another tax is no big deal, right?

Guess I'll just pour out a little (gasoline and alcohol) for my homies:

I just hate how some stations stop pumping at $75.00. It usually takes about $110 to fill up.
