So I've been looking in to a pump shotgun to go along with the house I'm renting (1st timer =o) and while I'm comfortable with the mossy 500 and 870's, I came across a couple good reviews on these escort guns.

    Escort Home Defense

I was hoping someone here would have more experience/knowledge than what I've been able to find.

I don't know ANYTHING about the Escort guns... but I'll throw a couple cents around at another option :)

Check out a Hawk 982. It's an 870 copy, 18.5", 5 shot tube, ghost ring sights, accepts 870 stocks (but not the forends).

Interesting, I had never heard of those. Does not look too bad. Thanks for sharing. Do you have one?

    Also:

When going with an "off brand"...

What will your customer service be like should you need it?

What about your ability to find replacement parts should something break?

What about side saddles? I'm sure everything accepts barrel mounted flashlights. those are pretty universal right?

Honestly thats what I'm looking for in a defense gun. Decent capacity, one piece stock (no tacticool), no bead sight, side saddle, and a flashlight I can count somewhere other than the fore end.

I have one and it looks more like a Nova copy and I have to say its is solid and reliable, but not as smooth as a Rem 870, I have ran around 50 or so rounds through it just breaking it in and checking point of aim with rem 00 buck on a siloutte target, I have to say no targets survived the encounter.

I have one and it is sitting accesible as a home defense shotgun but I would prefer to have a remington, but if you wanted one I don't see any reason that you shouldn't buy one, the components look sturdy and rugged.

They're made by Norinco. I don't have a Hawk 982, but I have it's sister from the same factory. NEF (also part of Remington's parent company) imports them as the Pardner Pump Protector, but with a bead sight instead. Mine sits behind our bedroom door in a Mossberg Loc-Box. I've got a rail, a light, and a shouldered pistol grip stock, but I haven't gotten around to install them yet. Frankly, I discovered the Hawk 982 after I purchased the NEF, so I intend to sell the NEF and buy the Hawk 982 because I want the ghost ring sights. Mine has functions flawlessly, and patterns well. I've run around 50 rounds through it, it one range session, without any problems.

I've read up some more and most people say if anything they have a problem with it feeding sometimes but they get a spring/follow from wilson. I've also read that 870 parts except barrels work. Seem right?

guys, I have both an 870 and a Hatsen Arms Escort and I'm not sure that 870 parts would fit, I don't know how the sidesaddle mounts work but I don't think the pins would be in the same spot between the 2 shotguns.

I'm covered up and don't have time to take the calipers to the recievers so I would be reluctant to give blanket statements.

So Far my escort hasn't shown any parts that I would think to be fragile and it defitly has the magazine feed problem that alot of guns have that if while loading if you short feed the round it will shoot back into the action and mess up your day.

    18" barrel for home defense
    24 slugster for deer
24 inch smooth for other hunting

Correct...I understand that the barrels have different mounting points. I haven't had any issues with mine feeding.
