I went through one roadblock in Spain. They were looking for a fugitive, I don't speak enough Spanish to catch all the details on the radio but I think he had attacked a few women. Anyway, they had set up checkpoints on all the major roads. We got waved through with just a quick glance, but there version of tire spikes looked pretty medieval. Instead of a rubber strip with hollow nails or the like, it was just a big chain with spikes on it and a weight at one end to make it throw easier. I'm honestly not sure who would win between spikey chain and tractor tire, but looks like they didn't want to find out either.
