Hannity: I've 'evolved' on immigration and support a 'pathway to citizenship' - POLITICO.com

We are bankrupting our economy by not bringing in new workers.

More workers = more taxpayers = lower deficits and less entitlement reform.

    It's a winner for everybody.

Now let's just see if Hannity sticks with this or reneges.

This doesn't make sense. How are new workers going to help the economy when the primary problem at present is that we don't have enough jobs for the workers we have?

My first thought after the Tuesday massacre was that I'd love to see Arizona throw in the towel and tell the feds, "We are immediately stopping any help our state is giving the federal government in trying to hold back the illegals crossing every day." Let the flood gates open. My kids are all college grads who aren't going to get beat out of a job by an unskilled illegal. Let the union workers, the unskilled burger flippers who don't even seem to know what day it is and the crying guilt ridden liberals compete against people who will break their backs at hard labor and be thankful to make half what the "poor" folks in the country make.

You might be surprised by some of the illegals that are crossing. The fairly small school I attend, there are a few I've met that are getting ready to head into grad school. One told me that he'd worked 3-4 jobs while taking 12-15 credit hours, making at least a 3.0 GPA, so that he could afford school. Another I know has been involved with 5 internships since I've known him and has gotten help from people he has met through networking.

In 2010, it was estimated that 96,000 young people without legal status held at least an associate's degree. Some are getting a Ph.D. Many of them would be more than happy to flip burgers or hang sheet rock so they can save up for that education.

So we will be for open borders to get the Mexican vote. Probably necessary from the demographic issues we keep hearing. But why stop there? I think it is time that we need to legalize drugs to get the youth vote. Hmmm, what next, free drive thru abortions? We need a study first, do we lose more than we gain on that one. We need to dump the whole idea of principles and look at this from a marketing problem. Rule of law? that is such an outdated concept that is clearly not playing in the US marketplace any more.

If Republicans want the Latino vote, this is the path. Like it or not, they are a fast growing segment that votes mostly Democrat because the Dems (truthful or not) are not touting the deportation of their family and friends. At the current growth rate, we will see long held red states go blue in the south because of the Latino votes.

We are bankrupting our economy by not bringing in new workers.

Umm , WTF are you talking about ? There aren't enough jobs for the people that are already here .

We're bankrupting our economy by going along with idiotic liberal plans and handouts .
More workers = more taxpayers = lower deficits and less entitlement reform.

More workers = flooded labor pool = lower wages all around = more folks on guberment' s teet

It's a winner for everybody. As long as you and your friends are liberals then sure it's starbucks all around .

Now let's just see if Hannity sticks with this or reneges.

How many times does it have to be said before the liberals get it ?

We already have a pathway to citizenship , it ain't broke so stop trying to fix it .

Too many immigrants already willing to work "blue collar" jobs for less than fair market wages destroys the middle class by forcing more Americans out of the labor market and on to the guberment teet in one form or another .

Too many immigrants UNWILLING TO ASSIMILATE into the American culture destroys the country .

How so ? By not forcing them to assimilate we have a "free for all" where they can come set up whole city blocks and neighborhoods where the businesses and cultural environment is just like whatever Third world s**t hole they came from .

In doing so they (1 neighborhood at a time ) destroy the American way of life and further divide the country , destroying all that made this a great country in the first place .

    Need proof ?

Take west Washington street for example , from White river parkway all the way up to Lynhurst is mexican or some sort of latino .

From Lynhurst up to 465 the mexicans are creeping up to the somali restaurants and coffee houses .

So no we don't need more immigrants , we need operation GTFO !

    And.....
why are they getting paid 'less than fair market wages'?

Because of the lack of integrity of those that hire them.

    Hannity is an idiot.

We already have PLENTY of workers.

Remove the illegals, and wages will rise to market values.

As to gaining the Hispanic vote, it won't work.

The draw to the Democratic Party for the Hispanic vote is the SAME draw as other demographic groups.
The Democrats support more "free stuff" than the Republicans.

    Couple of points.

    1) Our "pathway to citizenship" is ridiculous. One of the requirements is that you have to retain THE SAME job for 10 years. Most jobs don't even last 10 years, and who wants to be a janitor for a decade just so they can be a citizen? It's idiotic.

    2) Rising wages aren't a good thing, because they mean rising costs. Especially in un-skilled labor positions.

    I agree about #1.

As to #2, if wages rise because of market forces as a correction of the previous black market level wages paid to illegals, it's a positive thing overall.

The reason is, there would be more jobs that Americans and LEGAL residents would take, because they then would pay a reasonable wage.

Thus taking them off the government dole and transforming them into taxpayers.

Genius - let's give millions of predominantly poor, Zapatista sympathizing, big gov't program loving illegals amnesty, thus ensuring a permanent left-socialist majority. Totally f'ing brilliant.

New workers? there aren't enough jobs for workers that are already here. Double digit real unemployment, hello? And we think more new workers, without jobs, happily enjoying all the "free" crap big brother provides will somehow make the problem of impending bankruptcy better and not worse?

What kind of of idiotic bizarro world is this?

So...we want the R's to be more like the D's?

Of course the R's are pretty split on this issue already. Some have long held the panderous belief that they should accomodate the illegal aliens to achieve ballot success.

As 88GT so succinctly put it, there's already a process in place.

Sorry to break it to everyone..... Reagan already tried this in 1986.... guess how well that worked out for Republicans.

Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yep, Rush is blowing the OP's myth right now. Nixon signed Affirmative Action, and got no credit for it either. People who want SOCIALISM vote for Democrats, and it has little to do with actual issues like immigration. We are trying to apply our own logic, and it doesn't add up.

Even if Romney would have won and promised to make 11 millions illegals citizens, they will vote Democrat. These are poor, uneducated people, and they are focused on free benefits to survive, not a house and a yard, not school, or anything we consider a priority.
