Disaster preparedness seems like an appropriate forum when discussing chemical weapons.
Ok, it's been a long time since I was MOPP anything, let alone MOPP 4. The pictures look like textbook blister agent (mustard gas). Symptoms sound like it too. Delivering chems with mortars is a definite possibility.

Other mortars discharged a silver glittery substance that stuck to their skin like glue. The Kurdish soldiers said the Iraqi military also said ISIS used these chemical weapons on their forces.

Here's my question: what is this silver glittery substance? Chaff meets the description but looks more like Christmas tinsel and wouldn't make sense to dispense by mortar. A solid would hang around longer than a gas or liquid chem, but it would have to be dry or it would be a big clump.
