I'm tempted to trade my '13 Impala in on a full size pickup and am pretty set on a '14 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 with the 3.5l Ecoboost.

I'm sure one of you guys drives one and has some real world MPG numbers you can share? I drive a lot for work so the mileage could make or break this. A friend in Colorado averages 13.8mpg but I'm hoping the altitude is what's killing it.

Sorry I don't know about F150 MPG.....but how many miles does your Impala have on it? If you decide to trade your car, let me know what they offer in trade and I may be willing to buy for cash from you, if you are interested. I am needing a newer car for my wife, but all the dealers try getting a lot more than they give for em.

    Real world figures are 13-16 city, 20-22 highway (23mpg @ 55mph)

I don't own an ecoboost f-150 but know guys that have them and believe you could pull down 20+/- average as long as you keep your foot out of it.. For what it's worth I drive a 2012 super duty srw 4x4 with a 6.2 gasser and average 15.4-15.6 and that's half city half, hiway driving.. Gets 1 mpg better with warm weather..

If your light footed the eco-boost wins by 2-3mpg but if your heavy footed or tow a trailer or haul anything in the bed the 5.0 gets 1-2 mpg better says my buddy the ford tech.

He loves the eco-boost though, I get sick of hearing him talk about it.

What do you get at 75-80?

I've got a 2013 XL Regular Cab Ecoboost. The fuel economy is going to GREATLY depend on how you drive it, but also on how it's equipped.
I've basically got the lightest version available with the EB, along with 2WD and the 3.15 rear end. 4WD will drop some, due to drive-line losses and added weight. 4WD also typically has a shorter rear-end gearing from 3.55 to 3.73, which results in more RPM needed for a given speed.

@ 75-80 MPH I see 17-18 MPG HWY but to be honest, I never drive that quickly unless I really need to.
The added amount of fuel to go that quickly is FAR more than the time you'll save (or loose in fill-ups). The truck is just pushing too much frontal area to go much over 70 without really sucking up the fuel.

Expect about 16-18 MPG in town, again depending on equipment and throttle.

I find I can pull 20-21 MPG regularly @ 65-70 on the interstates and 22-25 MPG if I'm driving it as the EPA tested it, along state/US highways between 50-65 MPH.

The thing I like the most about it is the anonymity of driving a 2-door white F150. You could be stabbing a ***** in the passenger seat, and no one will even give you the FIRST look.
And you're nearly always the bigger vehicle, so you win any road rage arguments handily.

We've got a 2012 I don't need it for a daily driver, I have a company vehicle. So it is just a week end go to town truck, about 25 mi one way of mostly state roads and pretty flat to boot. Had it up to a little over 18 MPG on average, then my wife hit a deer with her suv so she drove the truck for a couple of weeks and her comment was "boy dose that thing go" when I got it back the average was 15.3. Like what has been said keep you foot out of it and it is ok.

I have a 2011 F-150 Supercrew 5.0 4x4 and I get 16-18 combined driving and 19-21 on the highway with a 3.55 gear ratio. I've always been curious how my truck compares to one with the EcoBoost motor.

Jeebus.... that's really pathetic. Considering our almost 9 year old GMC still knocks down 22-24 on the highway at 70-75mph unloaded, tows 5k and still gets 14 at the same speed you'd think all this new technology would make that seem weak. Hell, even in winter with a lot ofcity/run-around driving we stil get high 17's.

Looks like we're keeping this thing until it rusts in two, then patch it back together.

Those fuel numbers are not too impressive.

I have a 10 year old F350 crew cab, long bed, diesel, 4X4 and I am getting 19 to 20mpg. If I spend $150.00 on a programmable chip I can get 23mpg. If you step up to a F350 diesel you get the same if not better mileage and 10x's the quality truck. Just my thoughts.

I recommend you check out the new Ram 1500 Eco diesel if you're after MPG. You mentioned you're driving a lot so a diesel would make sense, they don't like short hops around town... Have a customer that owns one, drove all the way from New Jersey towing a 1969 Roadrunner on an open trailer, he avereged 28mpg.

I was looking at new trucks this week. dreaming is more like it. The Cost of fuel was way higher for the diesel even though it pulled down more mpg....impressively more mpg. I thought it was interesting. fueleconomy.gov is where I was doing a compare between 4X4s.

I would almost be willing to bet the only way you could get that kinda mileage is if its a v-6 shorty and you are very very light on the throttle.. Or if you had a 4.8 ls1 .. Or maybe you just drive down hill all the time.. 22-24 mpg is astronomical for any full size truck especially at those speeds..

modern diesels don't mind short tips so long as you get on the interstate every so often. Our 2011 has been driven exactly the same as our gas vehicles with no issues.
