I've done a few FTF transactions in the IHOP parking lot. Nice and close to home, and nobody has had any objections.

I've also met in a hotel parking lot in Indy once, and Taco Bell. :)

Who do you call and how long do you wait for a reply?

I believe the number is 867-5309 here locally. The young lady that answers the phone( Jenny if I remember correctly) Will "run your numbers" She is the only one I can turn to. She will give you something to hold onto. I had her run the numbers on a two tone Tommy gun here a while back and she made me so happy when she told me it was okay to make it mine!!!!

As many others have said, Walmart, fast food place, grocery stores, gun range.

I only ask to see DL and LTCH, no copying or writing anything down.

I also either call or get called on my cell so I have a number if something happens to me, and yes, I know there are throw away cell phones.

I think every single buy/trade/sell I've done with INGO members has been a good experience. We have some of the friendliest, like minded people in the State.

Gun range sounds pretty good 2 me. That way U can shoot it & make sure it works.

Sorry, but if I m selling U a gun I m taking down some info (name, address, maybe DL# or plate #) & it goes in my gun safe, & U would be welcome 2 do the same.

If ATF comes 2 my door saying that weapon was involved in a crime. I m not going 2 be standing there saying, uh I sold it 2 some guy! If that s a deal breaker so be it!

At the Crown Pt. gun show, which I m going 2 in a few, the sign says no deals outside the door. I thought that meant rite outside the entrance, did that mean in the parking lot also?:ar15:

note to buyers...seems like common sense, but it happened to me last month. I was selling and met up with a guy in a public lot. I had the firearm in my trunk. we get out and I pop the trunk. He lifts it out of the trunk and starts to look it over. then looks down the sights as if he were at the range - eye level...I thought for sure we were going to get the cops called on us by a soccermom. If in a public place, don't wave it around for anyone driving by to see. Keep it LOW in the cab or trunk and out of the sheeple's eyesight.

Recently, as many of you know, I helped a widow woman with the "estate sale" of her deceased husband's guns. As so many have pointed out, any public parking lot should do. I used WalMart, Menards, Chucky- Cheese (Just kidding!!! Relax...) and never had an issue.

The only information I took from the buyer was their name and town where they live. I asked them to initial the "bill of sale" so I could show the lady I was selling the guns for how much I got for it.

It's also not a good idea to hand a prospective buyer a gun inside his vehichle ,as he can drive off and leave you standing there embarassed. Have him to get out and stand outside his vehichle

... And you can call the police with his license plate and vehicle description. I must live in a Pollyanna world.

    Keep in mind:

Many gun shops don't care to have private transfers done on their property.

One reason can include: The appearance of impropriety / straw sales by said gun shop should someone be observing

Another good reason is that most all shops offer to do transfers for a nominal fee.

By doing a transfer on their property but not utilizing "them" for the transfer, they kind of see it as a small slap in the face.

MY advice: Walmart, Starbucks, Gas station, PepBoys, Burger King, Rural King, KMart, etc etc.

thats a great point Indy_Guy_77. The shop I worked at in MI would straight up run you out of there for selling guns in the parking lot. I also wouldnt wave it too much. You may be ok and within your right, but the cops and court will make you spend money to prove it.

How about meeting at a range to complete deals? The buyer gets to try the gun and nobody will be frightened at the sight of a gun.

I think a gun range would be ideal....

Some of these things are not like the others... :D

I stop by their office and they run them right away. I live in a small town. Your mileage may vary.

Billybob you can call BS all you want. This is what I do and if you need, I will give you the name of the Town that does it.

I've never had anyone balk at letting me hold that information privately, I have 16-18 copies from the last five years including a handful of members of this site. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, I understand the privacy concerns, but I haven't ran into anyone yet that felt it was compromising theirs given the circumstances. I offer the same info to those that I meet FTF for transactions and always hand them my business card.

If you are a shop and I'm filling out a 4473 it's cool. Private individual, nope. I will gladly "show" my LTCH or DL. The minute you bust out a camera and want to snap pics I'm gone. Ever heard of Identity Theft?? Yeah, it happened to my wife and it sucks bad. Sorry, but I guess I would buy from someone else who doesn't have a filing cabinet in their "safe". I say good day sir.

I have used parking lots. Mainly strip mall ones and just inspected the gun in a trunk and then moved it to my vehicle covered up. I have even done one in a tattoo parlor but that is another story.

I've always used McDonalds. Wal-Mart seems like too big of a parking lot to be able to find the buyer/seller. McDonalds is just the right size IMO.

I have done FTF in WalMart, McDonald's, Blueberry Hill, and White Castle parking lots. Never had so much as a glance from anyone, as far as I know..

I call BS on this one..PD's will NOT "run the numbers" just to check for you..

I think that you are just "Pulling this guys chain" See above..

The ONLY way you will get a LEO to "Run the numbers" is during the course of an investigation of said weapon.

They will wait for a LONG TIME....Bill.

It depends. I have seen a LEO run numbers for a friend while we were all sitting aroung the table talking and I would imagine that other departments would have told him to go pound sand. Same way that some will help when you lock yourself out of your vehicle and others will not.

I'm sure that this is true, but have you ever seen a LEO "Run the Numbers" without having the firearm in THEIR hands?

If the firearm comes up "Hot" the LEO has a responsibility to confiscate the firearm. If he does not he is in deep Sheet.
