I'm interested in finding some possible alternate venues for instructors that I host when my home range (RileyCC) is not available.

    I would need the following:
    • Located in central or west central Indiana
    • Exclusive access to the range (or at least one bay) for the duration
    • Centerfire rifle fire is allowed
    • Range that is preferably 50 yards wide, but 25 and up could do
    • Range that is at least 50 yard long, preferably 100 or more
    • shooting after dark allowed
    • restroom facilities (other than porta-potties)
    • reasonable rates for a weekend

yeah, Eagle Creek would be perfect. Steve S. can't guarantee the range for the weekend I need, though, so I'm still looking.

rhino do you know anything about the insurance side of hosting a class and renting out a range like Eagle Creek. Does who ever is doing the training provide the insurance?

    Sure.

When we (WVPPS) hosts an event at RileyCC, we have our own liability insurance. RileyCC also has their own. The instructor/company being hosted also has their own liability insurance. For the most part, any person or group that has a concern in the event needs their own insurance, regarless of what the other involved parties have.

I will not host any instructor who does not have a minimum of $1 million in liability insurance.

This is one reason why I am not teaching on a higher profile myself. I do not yet have insurance that satisfies my own needs.

I don't know for me yet, but it would depend on the carrier/underwriter, the specific circumstances of your training, and probably location.

    re: insurance.

as an nra certified instructor, i have available to me an affordable policy. pretty much covers any instructing time, nra or not. it's not that much of a concern for me as i teach mostly private lessons(one or two students at a time) and for the boy scouts. but, i (we?) will be expanding to group training this year and the insurance will cover.

the nra also offers individual liability policies for non instructors, to the best of my knowledge.

as with any insurance, you would be "rated" on an individual basis, so i cannot comment on cost.
