I'm really cheap, just ask my wife. All that fancy ointment and expensive compression shorts sound nice, but (offbrand) Gold Bond worked fine for me while I was at basketball practice. Try a small container of that before you move on to more expensive options.

Also, realize that compression shorts do just that, compress. If you wear boxer shorts this will take some getting used to!!!

Corn starch all natural and when you are not using it in your crack and crotch you can make gravy with it!

This. My Dad grew up on a dairy farm, and they used cornstarch on the cow's udders. It really works. It's smooth and absorbs the sweat, plus it's cheap. I don't go outside on hot days without it. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

BTW, you might want to put some in a ziplock bag for your use, so you won't find "little curlies" when your wife makes gravy. :D

1 more for cornstarch. worked my way through college as a cook. most of the employee restrooms had a box on the back of the toilet. as mentioned above, gold bond on raw skin is no good.
