Those poor people and those poor children. If they had been left alone here and not sent back, there is a good chance they would have become respected contributing members to our society. There are still elements of the Third Reich left in Germany.
No argument here. Good point. But...
There are elements in this Country as well!
    Wasn't it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip?
I also Love the way that the 'Communists' were looking at American Culture and how to grind it down to let in the clutches of control. AGENDA GRINDING AMERICA DOWN - Most Important Movie Ever on America - YouTube Little bit of Bias in there, but all in all a great and easy to see agenda.
The money still controls. The bias still controls.

I don't believe that checkpoints and the fact that I don't see much 'protecting and serving' anymore as being a far cry from Nazi Germany.
Also, all of the socialized services that we have here in this Country (Police, Fire, SCHOOLING) I believe would be much better off if they were privatized, liable for their practices, and subjected to actually doing a GOOD job.
Besides all of that. Sorry. Sorta.

My belief is that NO WHERE IN the WORLD should there be different laws, concerning someone's rights to freedom. Why would Germany be different? DO we feel that they come here for the scenic view? The weather? Our beef jerky and our potato chips?

Our 'laws' should apply to every man and woman on the earth. If we truly believe that they are 'God Given' then they Should apply to everyone. Once again though. It's not the paperwork behind the laws that matter, It's not the application accepted by it's governing class that should be important, it's the fact that they're inherit in the birth for everyone, everywhere. We all already come with Free Will, and that free will tells me that we should be able to practice as we freely will ourselves to do and those rights should never be infringed. And likewise we shouldn't infringe on other people's rights of course.

If this were applied to all people everywhere, there's be no need for a family to run away from it's country. The politically motivated and drawn lines should be blurred. The 'city' life is a good example of what happens to people when they're in bondage. Depending on everyone to do your own bidding. Working you butt off for someone else, just to have to pay someone else to work their butt off for you. Make your own. Eat your own. Be your own.

^^^ for the most part I agree; 'cept I don't believe police/fire could ever be privatized and be profitable without certain segments of society going without adequate service. Sure it happens to a degree now, but it could much worse.

Hopefully, they'll stay in Germany or go about the correct process for citizenship.

Our privatized prison-for-profit correctional system is a fine example failure of concept.

How is, upon escaping persecution, applying for and being granted political asylum by a federal judge a free pass?

It's not like they snuck in and got busted working tax free, Kut.

The Romeikes aren't IN Germany. The federal government had already granted them asylum. The Obama administration rescinded that asylum and is seeking to deport them. They DID follow the correct process, citizenship isn't the only "correct process" to legal residency, ya know. But ask yourself this: why would an administration that wants to grant automatic citizenship to millions of people who are here illegally want to deport a single family who is here legally?

I am going to be that jerk who answers the rhetorical question, just for the few who don't get it: People who are seeking asylum from a government engaging in a gross violation of their rights are poor candidates to be compliant sheep. Baaaaa!

It would be a dangerous precedent to allow the (so-called) federal government to agree that children are the charge of their parents, and not the village.

The Reichstag was out of business long before 1938. The Enabling Act was passed in 1934, which made Hitler a one man gang. The Nazis laws were removed from Germany following the war. The reason we pursued unconditional surrender was to make sure there was a change of regime and things changed. Whatever sucks about Germany now is not because of Nazi holdover.
Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. The anti-homeschooling laws in Germany are a holdover from the Third Reich. They were put in place by the Hitler regime and have carried over down through the years, without any substantive change. I'd like to see Germany change these laws, but they're a socialist country with a vested interest in a powerful and all controlling state. It just isn't going to happen.

Heard on the radio, and will try to find written article that there is a group, possibly a church group that is willing to stand on the front porch of their house and block, or do their best to block any federal employee trying to enforce the deportation.

Looks like some people have had enough with a government that changed the rules on the fly.

Update and even better! DHS allows German home-schooling family to stay in US | Fox News

This is over home schooling. How absolutely ridiculous. If we're gonna start handing out "golden tickets," then we should hand them out to everybody that applies if the criteria is met. I doubt I need to inform anybody that such is the case. I forget which African nation that just made being gay illegal, but are we to take all tge gays from that nation too. Geez, this is , again, over home schooling... What a ridiculous reason to grant the benefit of living here; especially when so many others with legit fears are denied. Like the Chinese couple that was denied for breaking the one child rule. They made his wife have an abortion, and were then going to sterilize her. After they concluded she was unfit for sterilization, guess who was next on the chopping block? HOW is this guy's family shut out, but a home schooling issue isn't?

Personally, I don't want any of them. I think we should clean our own house before we start letting people come in.
