Contrary to conventional belief, democrats, it seems are as likely if not more likely to force their version of morality on others than bible thumping conservatives.

I was under the assumption that if your business opened back up and your employees didn't come back to work they would be taken off the unemployment status as having voluntarily quit.

There are a lot of people drawing enhanced unemployment. Going back to work will be a pay cut

This came up just the other day in a managers meeting where I work. If we were to have to furlough anybody it would be people below a certain pay grade. The thought pattern is that they would retain full income, albeit from unemployment, and some would even essentially see a raise in income while off. I hope we don't have to see if that is correct.

Mrs. MarkC and I went for an extended drive in our old beater convertible yesterday, going through Nashville and then around the east side of Bloomington (SR 45 to the bypass then east on SR 46 to SR 446). Stopped for fuel on the east 3rd Street.

There were so many people out in Bloomington, it was hard to tell there was any kind of restriction in place, although, admittedly, we only were on the edge of the city.

Beautiful day to be out on a bike or in a convertible. Hundreds of motorcycle out in and around Nashville.

Considering that we already have a huge class of Americans who could work but are happy living a limited life on government benefits, I, too am concerned about the effect this enhanced unemployment benefit is going to have, especially with many people still very concerned about contracting the virus.

WTHR says Monroe County is not opening, rather than just Bloomington, because they haven't met the requirement of 2 weeks of reduced hospitalizations. So I don't think the Mayor of Bloomington has anything to do with this.

I travel thru downtown Bloomington daily, someone should tell all the homeless in Seminary park about social distancing.

I was in Lowe's and Menard's shopping for bathroom vanities and counter-tops yesterday. It was early in the day, and both places were crazy busy. In fact, I overheard a couple of Lowe's employees talking with one another saying how they were dreading getting slammed later in the day. It looks to me like Bloomington residents were extending a middle finger to our beloved mayor.

The libs need the lockdown to last as long as possible. They know every day of lockdown is a day closer to us going into a depression. They believe this will win them the election and or further establish their socialist plans.

The libs had a HUGE win with the $15 an hour addition to unemployment. That is a glossed over loss that we may well regret forever...

Now you've got me started! Lived in Bloomington all of my life and have watched it slowly go downhill ever since the early 1970's. This all started when the transient student population were allowed to vote in local elections. This town has had a Democratic mayor ever since then. Since the early 2000's the city government has been all Democratic and in the last 10 years so has the county government. This has left Bloomington and Monroe County with a one party system of government just like the former Soviet Union. The influence of old time townies (those individuals/ families not directly associated with IU and whose values are much like most of small town Indiana) have been replaced by progressive / leftists types mostly influenced by the university to the point that this town is a microcosm of say Portland or SF. All of the political leadership in Bloomington take their directives from MSNBC and AOC and in this case it is really hurting the small business owner but since when did the Left care about them.

True That! I try to go early mornings during the week. A sunny Saturday or Sunday just multiplies the crowds at the stores with outdoor garden centers.

I guess Bloomington is still better than Michigan!!
