S&W Model 617 (6 shot) with a six inch barrel. The BEST .22 revolver I've ever shot. It'll shoot "bug-holes" at 25 yards. :yesway:

Looks good, it seems many others are of the same opinion. 600$+ new though, ouch. Any reason to choose 6 shot over 10 shot?

I own two S&W 22 wheel guns, a 617 with a 6" barrel and a 317 with a 3" barrel. The 617 is amazingly accurate, but I really prefer the 317, very lightweight and just an absolute pleasure to carry around my property ( a lot of critters)

Property gun is the intended use. I think I would enjoy a slightly longer barrel, and the accuracy.

I like the 317 because of the weight, or lack of weight. It has an 8 shot cylinder of which I load every other round with birdshot (I have a lot of snakes on my property.) The 317 is accurate, but it is a J-frame, so if you have big mitts, it might not be a good choice.

A toss up between a S&W Model 617 (10 shot) with a 4" barrel and a month old Ruger Single 10. Both are accurate but the Single 10's FO sights help my old eyes shoot better.

Read the review I linked. The Ruger using the CC mini mags, put a 10 shot grouping within .81" at 25 yards......that is extremely good for as factory stock gun.

I have the FO sight on my MP, and they do help...am a Smith fan...but I do love the Ruger single 6 and 10

I have a 6" S&W 617 with a 10-shot cylinder that I love for plinking. I also have a 8-shot S&W 317 that I carry a lot when taking walks in town. If I'm hiking in the country, I carry something with a little more punch.
