While in some, more violent countries, people actually use armor to PROTECT their children.

Just more proof it's not about the children.

Them: "There's too much gun violence. We have to do something to stop the killing."

Us. "Simple. Wear body armor. That will help lesson the lethality of pistol rounds at the very least."

Them: "No, body armor should be illegal. We'd prefer that you're totally defenseless."

Because the LA bank robber case has nothing to do with the stigma of the peasants owning body armor.

Well using body armor while committing a crime is already a pretty stiff enhancement, so I'm confused why this law was even proposed. People should be able to own body armor. But given how dumb the FOP is, I can see them supporting this.

At last something ALL of us can agree upon. Now let's up the ante: let's have someone introduce a bill REQUIRING every citizen to own AND wear body armor at all times.

What we REALLY need is for someone in Congress to introduce a bill making it illegal for criminals to break the law.

That would pretty much get the whole issue solved.

It's already illegal to use while committing a crime in Indiana right? Why not just pass that law in every state and BAM, problem solved!

Because that's not the "problem" that they are attempting to solve.

Read the congressman's own headline again:

Responsible Body Armor Possession Act Keeps Military Armor out of the Wrong Hands | Congressman Mike Honda

("The wrong hands" means any hands that don't belong to the government.)

Its not about cracking down on criminals. Its about cracking down on us.

I can't rep you again unfortunately.

In other news, I checked online and body armor is friggin expensive!

If they really wanted to make a no difference in crime, they can always recommend something similar to indianas law, which basically makes it a crime to use body armor during the the commission of a felony..... Oh thats right because only criminals have body armor.... I must be a criminal.

I'm sure it's "all about the children" somehow.

So if I theoretically had at one point purchased body armor from a friend when he was struggling to make ends meet and needed money to buy food for his premature baby girl before payday, do I get a pass because it was "for the children?"

Not that I HAVE body armor, of course. Why would a law-abiding citizen need that? This is purely hypothetical. :tinfoil:
