I was wondering if anyone has seen these guys and know who and what they are. I was traveling in Indianapolis and saw a SUV white in color with a light bar on top and writting on the vehicle. In large letters it said Homeland Security, then below it in smaller letters it read Federal Police. It had a Federal Government plate. I have never seen them before.

I saw a lot of them in NOLA after hurricane Katrina. All in fully marked police vehicles and wearing uniforms. I talked with one of them on a few occasions, he was a nice guy and we got along but I still don't understand what they do or what purpose they are supposed to serve.

Probably agents of the Federal Protective Service, which is attached to Homeland Security and responsible for protecting federal installations.

Theoretically under the constitution, the local sheriff may boot any federal activity out of his county. The sheriff is the supreme voice of law in the county. Feds are not supposed to operate in a county with out permission from the sheriff.

Vote for a constitutionalist sheriff, and put up a safeguard against these illegal Federal Police.

I've seen DoD cops (Department of Defense police) at the federal courthouse in Indianapolis.

Did the car or SUV look like this?

I thought the Coroner was Numero Uno in the County. :dunno:

Technically, only the coroner can serve the sheriff with a warrant.
This is an antiquated law and there's a movement within the Indiana Sheriff's Association to change it.

"Federal Police" is kind of a catch-all designation.

FAM's, FM's, FBI, you name it.

All of them can, and do, work together on myriad projects...like serving felony warrants, for example.

They've been around for decades. They secure federal buildings and property. You'll see them at the Federal Bldg at 575 N Pennsylvania all the time, also.

Nothing to worry about. Put the tinfoil hats back on the shelf! :)
