Michigan is going through an economic crisis of its. It needs to be handled, but the process must be honored in doing so. The governor's idea to handle the crisis is to fire locally elected officials and replace them with his own handpicked financial managers (read czars). It even mentions eliminating whole cities and school districts without any public input, and force municipalities into bankruptcy.

The economic situation needs to be handled, but not at the cost of the elective process. The State should have no say in local school's and local town's money. It should be collected locally and spent locally.

Michigan bill would impose "financial martial law"

This isn't the GOP Governor. The old Canadian Democrat Governor took over Benton Harbor several years ago because it was on the verge of bankruptcy. I have the feeling that it is legally able to do so, probably even mandated because the city council in Benton Harbor have been very angry about this and would have sued if they could.

Their doing this because michigans' "elected" offical are so corrupt that their as elected as a prostate exam. "martial law" is the only way to root them out. At said, it is a disturbling thing to see. But it may be the only answer at this point.

Here are some more links/videos I found. Since a republican wrote the bill, mostly democrats seem to be the ones crying foul. But as we should know, just because a Republican does it, doesn't make it right or constitutional. Benton Harbor, MI, seems to be the first town affected.

Although Michigan is in bad financial shape, I think there is something inherently wrong with a central government/governor kicking out locally elected representatives. It kinda sounds like Gov. Snyder is using a crisis to centralize government power in his state.

Sounds like the city council should do thier jobs and provide some workable alternatives to get the city out of it's problems rather than throwing a hissy fit.:dunno:
