Burned my last vacation Friday day to get one extra hunt during gun season. I had only seen deer once in ten hunts this year, and missed it with my bow.

Yesterday morning made it all worthwhile as I took two deer with my 6.8mm SPR-ish build. I was using handholds built with Hornady brass, Cci primers, Accurate 2200 powder, and Hornady 120-gr SST bullets. This combination results in a muzzle velocity of 2500 fps.

A buck was chasing a button (I thought it was a doe at first). The buck stopped running when it saw me move and I shot it at about 25 yards. The button circled back about 5 minutes later and I shot him at about 30 yards. Neither ran more than 20 yards after being shot.

The buck was shot through the heart. On the button the bullet entered the left shoulder, destroying it, and passed through one lung. Both shots were pass throughs with exit wounds about 1" in diameter.

Can't say how these will perform at longer ranges, but this is a good start.
