On the other hand, people do seem impressed when I start taking rifles out from "lever action alley" and explaining what each one is, and where they come from.

But it's not for them. "Lever action alley" is my Louvre, and Marlin, Ithica, Henry, they're the masters.

As far as corrosion or fungus from sitting, Amazon sells goldenrods, and other brand's versions, and a lot of them are pretty reasonable. These things work. And they use very little electricity. I'd highly recommend this for your safe or gun cabinet.

Well, bought that beautiful Marlin that was in the classifieds today.

Can't wait to take her out for her maiden voyage.

Congratulations! I was looking at that one too. You got lucky. It is one of the new ones. After Remington retooled, and started putting out quality rifles. Pretty sure I figured Feb, 2017 manufacture date.

^Very true.
They work really well and don't need to be recharged.
I've got a couple that are almost 10 years old and still going strong.

What? No Winchesters?

My very first one was a 94 in 30 30. Pop liked it so much that I made up an excuse to sell it to him.
The next was a 336, and I never looked back.
I love the old Marlins.

Nice score! I have a Rossi 38/357, easily takes deer and the 38 plinks and snaps up small game.
