Did a little shore fishing at Ogle lake today, didn't do well... lol The Wife and kids came and didn't get to "focus" on fishing. I did catch a couple Garter snakes. I love any opportunity to teach my children about wild life! After I released them right where I found them they decided to take a swim.

Thanks for sharing. Cute little girl there with her little kiddie pole. No snakes for me thank you. No way, even if they are harmless.

That's my youngest she is 2 and thought the snake was cool as well as other critters but my oldest she is 4 and she didn't want anything to do with it... I finally got her to pet it and she warmed up to them. I then had to chase my wife around with them... lol

I love finding wild snakes !!! They are always so gentle and non threatening... I try to get my wife to catch them, but she refuses and screams while running the opposite direction of the snake. =] More for me I guess... But I love nature and all its beauty and creatures.. Thank you for sharing the pictures..

These two were pretty docile the larger one wasn't to happy when I picked her up and opened her mouth a few times and musked me up pretty good she calmed down after a bit when she realized I hadn't eaten her... lol the smaller one was all good even though he had some scars as well as the tip of his tail missing. there was actually a third but its hard to watch a 2 year old and hold two snakes while catching another... lol Also I am just guessing the sex of these since females are usually larger and he almost seemed to be rubbing on her like he was trying to mate with her. I feel kinda like I interrupted... lol sorry bro...
