This has probably already been compiled but I have yet to find it. Where, besides Eagle Creek Reservoir, are ther public places to fish in Indianapolis or close thereto?

In that Field that is Green
Depends on what you want and if you are going to eat it. I use to fish in the water co, canal at Broad Ripple for carp. Real fun but wouldn't want to eat one.

If you want to drive a little bit South, Atterberry has some fishing areas.

i have found that turkey run and monroe lakes are the best fishing places by far unless you want to go to some of these pay lakes which i dont find very good but there is a pond behind my parents house that is free and is filled with alot of fish different kinds

Fish for what? Catfish? I really enjoy the white river, I'm sure theres better but I've caught some great cats there.
ive caught quite a few nice catfish outta the whiteriver between martinsville and waverly public access sites.the smallmouth bass have even been really decent sized this year.last year on the whiteriver i caught 2 smallys over 5lbs.now thats a fight!

Have you been doing any good lately? I fish the river a lot between the Waverly ramp and Henderson fd. We were catching some decent channels and flatheads earlier in the spring/summer, but havent done squat lately. I don't know if they don't bite as well in the summer or what.

The smallies we've caught in the river have all been of average to small size, but we haven't really been targeting them. What do you catch the 5lb fish on? Spinners and Rebel pop-r's for me, but i've sure never caught any that big!
