I have a chance to get an older bass boat for a REALLY fair price. However, the transom is bad. I have read elsewhere that this is a costly repair if done at a shop. I was thinking of doing it myself. I have seen people put an aluminum plate on the back, but I want to fix it right.

If anyone has ever done this, do you have any tips, suggestions, etc.?

    TIA

Anyone ever use this product/method? http://www.rotdoctor.com/glass/GLrotrepair.html

I work in the boating industry and have done transome repair. What kind of boat? What material is it made of? Can you take any pictures of the transom.

You are correct, it is expensive to repair if done at a shop.

never used the product you linked too but I have used a product called "GitRot". Both of those products wont really "repair" anything but they will slow the rotting process.

Thanks for the replies, but I am running away. Thought I would be getting a good deal, but for $2000 to fix the transom, I am letting this one go.
On to find another. "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."
