I have had my FN SLP that I purchase used for almost two years now, I'm by no means an expert gunsmith or operator just and average gun enthusiasts. I have now close to 800 rds through with the red piston installed (light loads piston) and for the main part have been using the Wally world bulk pack 12 GA both Winchester and Federal, during all this period of time I can only recall two fte with the light loads but no malfunctions with the full power 00 buck that I shot. What I can tell you is that is a dream to shoot (very soft recoil impulse) and virtually no muzzle rise and I shoot it more it continues to impress me even more, I think for the money the FN SLP is an outstanding shotgun.

And it stinks that there is virtually nothing you can do about it due to the recoil spring.
