Just received this e-mail from the awesome guys from Students for Concealed Carry on Campus and I'm pretty happy that I did. =] Thought some people
might appreciate it if I pass it on here.

    Greetings SCCC Supporters:

The Students for Concealed Carry on Campus Board of Directors is
pleased to announce that for all of empty holder protest week (Now -
April 10 @ 11:59 PM ET), there is an opportunity for anyone with a
.edu email address to obtain a FREE CHP TRAINING COURSE for Virginia.
Both residential and non-residential permits are available in
    Virginia.

Online training is valid under Virginia law for a Virginia CHP permit
(VA Code §18.2-308 (G)(7) and (P1)(7)). Education and training are key
goals of SCCC. By making training available to students, faculty, and
staff on campus, we will further a goal shared by both sides of the
gun rights debate: to educate about the core safety aspects of
    firearms and self-defense.

    Here's what you do:

    1) Visit: American Firearms Training
    2) Register with a .edu email address
    3) Use the following discount code: 923726
    4) Finish the course before April 10 @ 11:59 PM ET.

Upon completion of the course, you will be given a printable
certificate of completion. Instructions on how to submit this
certificate to Virginia authorities is available at:
Virginia State Police - Firearms/Concealed Weapons . Please note that you will
be responsible for any state fee(s) and compliance with all legal
    standards that Virginia requires.

A Virginia CHP permit is currently valid in AK, AR, AZ, DE, FL, ID,
IN, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN,
TX, UT, VT, and WV. Please note however that currently Michigan (MI),
South Carolina (SC), and Florida (FL) only honor permits from
    residents of the issuing states.

SCCC encourages you to spread word about this program far and wide.
Please, tell your friends on campus. Post this information on your
SCCC campus mailing lists. Post it on your campus SCCC Facebook
groups. Let's get the word out!

Let's make this empty holder protest week the best one yet!

    Cheers,

    The Board of Directors
Students for Concealed Carry on Campus

    Happy Easter, ya'll.

The form requires a credit card number etc. so I put in bogus information and the discount code and it worked.

I suppose I could look it up, but someone might know offhand. What states does this add that IN doesn't cover? Should I get this one, or just wait and do the Utah or FL?

it adds OHIO, i know that Ohio wont honor Indiana's permit for some reason. that alone is worth doing this. yes its $100 payable to the Virginia State Police, but worth it in my opinion. you can never have too many authorizations to carry your gun!! shouldnt need any but since we must follow the laws, we do.

    Thanks to the OP

Just took the course and completed it in about 1 hr. Some lag with the videos but otherwise good basic info. I think, but not sure, that you can use this to get Florida's permit also. You have to complete it by April 9, 2010 to get if for free. So hurry.

I just took the course and finished it in 10 minutes. I skipped the videos and took the tests, and got 100% on all of them. Honestly, what is the point of a course where someone can do that AND get 100% on everything?

Quick question: I forgot you had to be 21 to get the darn thing, is the certificate still good if I wait 2 months until my 21st birthday? Anybody know?

Or can I send it in now and they won't mail it to me until then...

yea but Im pretty sure you get ohio with the utah and florida, along with others as well...

    Indiana + Utah =

AL, AK, AZ, AR, CO, DE, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, and WY

IIRC, CO, FL, MI, NH, and SC honor only resident licenses/permits. Of those, only SC is not covered by our LTCH. The states listed in orange are the ones added by the Utah CFP.

    Blessings,
    Bill

virginia non resident permit covers ohio too. heres the catch: you have to pay $100 to the Virginia state police to apply for a non resident permit. IF YOU ARE REJECTED FOR ANY REASON YOUR $100 FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE!!!!

    This was super easy.

I didn't watch the videos and was able to answer most of the questions. Why not spend a couple of minutes, refresh your knowledge and have the certificate.

Getting the VA permit will get you the following states over and above your IN LTCH:

DE, NE, NM, OH, SC, VA, WV

And SC, last I checked, will not recognize any non-resident permits.

Getting your Utah CFP will add eight states to the 26 you get with your LTCH:

DE, MN, NE, NM, OH, VA, WA, WV

All of which recognize non-resident permits.

I have not looked into what FL non-res gets you.

Still, if the unConstitutionally-required VA permit training is free, that's cheaper than most instructors offer the unConstitutionally-required UT CFP training, though the unConstitutionally-required fee is higher; $100 for VA, $65.25 for UT, with $10.00 renewal after five years. The renewal for VA is another $100.00 after five years.

    Hope this helps everyone. :)

    Blessings,
    Bill

i took the test too the other day (im not in college nor do i have an edu.org address, and i didnt use my credit card number and it still let me complete it and get a certificate. everyone should get the free certificate just to have it. Also if you have a spouse or child you wanna properly educate on handgun safety, then I recomend having them watch the video. Yes to some of us who know it all the training seems pre-school, but to a beginner it will be very usefull and could save their life or someone elses maybe. just my suggestion. I am waititng for my packet from the Virginia State Police then I will be getting my permit. Ive had the Utah permit for 2 years now too. I figure the more un-constitutional permits i get the safer i'll be to legaly carry incase one of the 3 states i have permits from decide to go anti-gun.
