Is friday night steel happening tonight?
Hopefully it will be my first. But looking at the schedule, I am unsure if the range is closed entirely, or if it's just closed except for friday night steel.
Guess I'm just dumb.
It stated Friday Night Steel (RANGE CLOSED)

im not gna b able to attend FNS for another two weeks, how long into the end of the year do they do FNS???? Thanks
I don't know why I didn't do this sooner.
To regulars, this is nothing new...
But Jworm, it was alot more relaxed than I expected it to be.
Lot's of skill levels, and noone 'competitive' (except against themselves of course).
I had nothing to go by, so as long as I didn't shoot myself or do something stupid on the line, I was happy. I was told I scored a 110 which was 'good' for a noob. I have no idea what that score means though lol.
1st set was the hardest for me. 6 targets, 3 left, 3 right at 3 levels of 'depth' (Closest to furthest). You had to shoot closest to furthest, so you were going back and forth much of the run.
2nd set was shooting through a barrel. It was very loud, and the M&P22 I was using for this first sting didn't move the targets much, so it was very difficult to tell if a hit was scored.
This was my fist time shooting metal targets. Next time I will use my M&P9.
3rd set was a blast. varying sizes of targets with one rather small 5" or 6" maybe? Pretty straight forward.
4th set was 2 large uspa silhouttes, and 2 small bowling pin sized targets. I scored my best time on this when i luckily knocked down the two small ones with one shot. I did take a shot on the one (and scored a hit) as it was falling. But I found 'if it falls it scores'
5th set was most challenging, but I did better than I thought I would. Shooting around cover. A 'wall' in front with a center slit. 1 string from the right side, 1 from the left, and one from the center. I have never shot behind cover before tonight.
Everyone in my group was really outgoing, and quite a few were rooting me on. Considering I didn't know anyone there, I felt really welcome.
As a newb, the first string was hard, but more difficult because I was so nervous (Like being up at the tee first time out the season with 2 groups behind watching you).
But by the 3rd string, I was much more relaxed and scoring more hits in less time.
The only competition present, is the pressure one puts on ones self. You know when you do bad, and know when you do well. But honestly, everyone is running different guns, and running them 3x... there's alot going on, and not everyone is focused on you.
I highly recommend it. I know I will be back.
Special thanks to John my R.O. who was very helpful, especially on the last stage with the cover. I was worried about taking up too much time, but he was very thorough and wanting to make sure I was comfortable (and less likely to have an accident). A little pee did almost come out.
Also the Beans and Bullets! He was a pleasure to chat with, and Eric ## something! (I honestly did try to get INGO usernames to remember). He was another M&P shooter and I got to talk with him about his talon edition at length!
Definitley go... even if it is by yourself. Hell I will make sure I go with you if you want someone to talk to, but it's really not needed. Everyone was great.
oh yeah. most shooting was about 15 yards out? mostly 8" rounds. some uspa silhouttes, a few larges rounds and occasional smaller targets. I saw Que shooting. I was afraid to introduce myself because he was so much damn bigger in real life lol
