Most of the “NATO”Jerrycans are JUNK. There are still good ones, but they come at a price, and it’s expensive. Rotomold or some such company is making carb compliant “NATO”ish cans, but they aren’t cheap either. My last 4 I bought from SOE gear and they were like $225, but we’re the real deal with protected welds and such. SOE hasn’t ran these in a bit though.Been slowly trying to increase the reserve. (Though wife mentioned she is up to a solar option last night). I am appalled at the cost of 5 gal cans. What does INGO say for most effective spending of dollars? Not cheapest, not best... most bang for dollar?
Whatever the store Big R is called now had 5 gal cans in their ad last week. Someone who lives closer to one May know the new name.
found it. It’s called stock+field now. 5 gal cans are $9.99
Jegs or summit. 5 gal. poly jugs. These are the ones racers use. We did. And we still do. They stash away readily and the positive seal on the lid is serious. Fuel will keep for a long time especially if you StayBil it.
Yes there are a few bucks but some of mine are from 1998 and still viable. You get what you pay for.
These.

I have four of the Jegs in my cart right now. Considering getting a fifth one to actually use to fill the mowers and such. I need to get off my backside and order them already.
Looked at one, but without a valve. I figured I would remove it for storage, but if I get one for the mowers and such maybe I should rethink it.
Putting one together with parts I have is an option for sure.
I see a hose bender. Might work to keep the floppy hose pointed in the right direction?

So I am having one of those mornings. Can’t find the fill neck kit or whatever to pour from these cans. My search foo is not working today. Can you help?
If you ask for 5 gallon gas jugs on the home page of Jegs you will see them in the listing.
Those are the good ones.Researching this awhile back led me to believe that if you go the metal 20L/5 Gal NATO Jerry Can route, Wavian/Valpro brand cans made in Latvia are the best quality route. This influenced my thinking: https://www.reddit.com/r/overlandin...ry_can_compilation_post_what_to_look_for_and/
The best price I have seen for them is British Atlantic: https://www.roverparts.com/search/nato-can/; $45 each, save $10 if you buy four at once, and they have the traditonal cammed lid sealing mechanism.
Of course these are not "fuel" cans because the do not have the EPA approved vapor-reducing-lids-that-don't-work worth-a-damn-and-spill-more-gas-than-the-traditional-style-lids-thus-causing-more-pollution-than-ever. Not that I'm bitter. So they are "non-potable water" cans.
The 5 gal fuel jugs on the Jegs site and are about half the price of the nato cans...but I am suspicious of plastic anything in Texas heat. Even in storage sheds summertime temps can cause such gas expansion that plastic containers I have seen will force gas out the lid eventually. But if they work for Churchmouse in Indiana, where you are, then that's a deal.

The 5 can be a bear when full. Get a smaller jug and fill it from the 5. The valve helps adjust how much fuel is dispensed. Makes it controllable.
