I'm just looking to see if anyone has suggestions. I've got a G19 Gen4 and Gen5. I can shoot just about anything out of my Gen4 but the Gen5 keep jamming on factory made hollow points. I haven't shot the Gen5 more than a few times and now it's jamming on certain rounds. I can load the Gen4 pull back the slide and it's loaded, I do the same with the same ammo and the Gen5 won't close all the way. Has anyone had these issues and if so what fixed it? Or should I just be more picky with what ammo I shoot? Thank you

Gen 5 "Marksman Barrel" does not always agree with the "ogive" of certain bullets. The ogive is the shape of the radius on the bullet and it can hit the actual lands and grooves, or what I think they call the throat. There are certain brands to avoid and it seems you have found one.

Edit: by "brands" I actually don't know of any at this point when referring to factory loaded. I know reloaders have had issues.

I’ve not yet owned a Gen 5, but I’ve never had feeding issues with Gen 3-4. Any idea what they changed? I was planning on buying a G19 Gen 5MOS soonish, but if the barrels are picky I may reconsider.

The Gen 5 has a change in barrels. I think it's a difference in rifling, not sure if anything changed in the feed ramp.

@BAgun is there any markings on the feed ramp of the Gen 5?

A pic of what the jam looks like would possibly help.

The failure is usually the gun being just a few thousands of an inch out of battery. Maybe as much as 1/16 inch. It will almost appear ready to fire.

To see how little it takes to make things go wrong, HooserBullets has a great picture here: HoosierBullets. And scroll down to see the red projectile next to the green one.

I am hopeful the OP will share the exact ammo details. This is a first for me to hear about factory loaded ammo having an issue. I am curious if this is 135g or 147g ammo.

Is that a mark on the projectile? I believe that is the proof about the projectile hitting the throat of the barrel and not letting the complete bullet enter the chamber. Thanks for the pics. Any chance of getting a clear pic of the bullet? Thanks again.

Those pics are really blurry, can't make out much detail.

Does it go into battery with a little tap on the slide? Is there markings on the bullet themselves? Take the barrel out and drop a round into the chamber to see how it fits.

That round looks like the bullet is seated WAY far forward - what's the brand/weight/etc?

I've found that, especially on Gen5 Glocks, the chambers are on the shorter side, so that reloads I've rolled for other 9mms won't quite seat in the Gen5 G19. Might be just an issue of finding a different load that works in that pistol, but, if that's a FACTORY JHP, you probably ought to call GLOCK and have them take a look at it.

As someone else already posted, you should NEVER assume any factory new pistol can be taken out of the box, loaded and shot. At a minimum, field strip, check the bore, wipe off any excessive gunk, and a lube according to factory specifications is called for.

Let us know how it turns out!

It will not go into battery, it stops short then I have to give some force to open it back up to eject round. 115 Blazer Hollow Point. The round doesn't show like it's jamming on a certain point or anything. IMG_20220310_191955746.jpg IMG_20220310_191739077.jpg

I've not taken apart and cleaned it at all. Just assumed a brand new gun would fire all. I will do that though. Thanks
Always always read the manual and take apart and clean any new gun. Manufactures have a tendency to put metal protection solvents on versus gun running lube.
You could get a 1911 as suggested then do the same thing but also put the mandatory 500 rounds through it to "break it in". CZ is fine if it fits your hand.
Other than that, I'd be willing to take that P.O.S. off your hand for $50

I'd call Glock CS. I'd usually say try a couple of different loads, but with current ammo prices that can rapidly lead to spending more money testing ammo than the gun cost...
