Not this specific instance, but now that the consequences are known, they could do this anytime, any day, to near any stock.
No. Finding a company that had a 140% of available stock SHORT is rare to the point it reflects the insanity of those who would try it. It was leveraging greed to a level rarely seen in the history of the markets, and it backfired when people noticed it.

    Interesting twist.

For those that cant see FB. Melvin Capital Is owned by Citadel,LLC. They are the ones shorting the stock. They also gave Robinhood 40% of their revenue to start up. So RH has a direct financial interest in stopping this. So while everyone is whining about Redditors breaking the law colluding in the purchase of the stock, Robinhood's stepping in and preventing more buying directly protects their interests.

There are some, at least this dude on the Chan, that think it was orchestrated for the Great Reset:

    Truly amazing times...

    Accelerate.

If we're heading for the "great reset" then nothing will stop that from happening. Not after the people bowed down and allowed for our election to be stolen. Not after people capitulated after being labeled mean things by the media, all because they walked around the capitol for a couple hours. If people want to just lay down and die for the machine, let them, there's nothing you nor I can do about it.

But what we can do is bend over hedge funds that raped our country, and at least enjoy the spoils of that war for a bit before the lights go out. It's the last glimpse of unity we're probably ever going to see again.
This is the first time the right and left have united under teachings from rules for radicals, that I've ever seen. I highly doubt those in charge want that situation. They want us fighting along racial lines, because as long as we do that, they remain in the shadows and able to control things.

From the levels of kvetching I've seen from the elite over this, I'm inclined to think this isn't really planned.
They're in an absolute no win situation, as either way they play it off, the people will be united in their hatred of them.

If anyone thinks a bail out is an acceptable end to this, they need tarred and feathered if not worse.

I saw a story yesterday that there is a bunch of police, public, municipal, and teacher retirement funds on the line...

Even if that were true, who's fault is it for not being responsible for your future and who handles your finances? Being negligent has consequences.

If your future rides on a virtual casino, you have no one but yourself to blame. Wall street is not sacred, nor are hedge funds. Never put in what you aren't willing to completely lose. If you put your whole retirement into it... Welp, play stupid games win stupid prizes.

What happened to personal responsibility? Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps? Not being shielded from consequences for your actions? You're implying leftist logic.

Not a small group. Over 5 mil on the Wall street Bets subreddit. I'll be moving off Robinhood when all this settles.
The entire 3M members of WSB didn’t hatch this plan. I’ve been watching this a while and a very small group started talking about GME and shorts last year. We know Congress called Facebook, Twitter, and others to the carpet over foreign actors interfering with elections for at least the last 4-5 years by creating fake political action groups, fake posts, disinformation, etc. on those platforms. All I’m saying is that it’s possible a similar group could plant the seeds for something like this to damage our economy. WSB was hidden, and then made private, just a few days ago because of the amount of bots and new members coming in to push other stocks. The suspicion then was big companies were trying to distract people away from GME to kill momentum. If Reddit recognized the potential for manipulation and reacted to the threat, I’m going to pay attention. Everyone is getting a kick out of billionaires getting owned, but keep a clear head.

Unless you mortgaged your home in the early hours of this, you’re probably going to get hosed.
i dunno, they say it could get to 1k. so if you raised 50k to dump at $350 a share, and it hit $800 (which might be reachable) thats almost 115k? But then again, it might tank... if only miss cleo were still around

I'm impressed with the solidarity of these crazy kids so far. Many of them who got in early have to be up millions. I expected a major sell off by now, but they seem to be holding out for the serious $$$.

The guy behind the moves got outed by Reuters:

    It was never a secret.
    TLDR:
“If he is what he says he is, he’s not breaking the law,” said Scott Silver, a securities lawyer and managing partner of Silver Law Group. “There’s absolutely nothing wrong to tell others to buy a stock if it’s honest and in good faith.”

People keep calling them kids, but it's not just kids. Sure, Mark cuban's kid is 6, but hell, i'm almost 50.

Please don't believe all the crap coming out right now. The media is on the side of the hedge funds not the people, but this misdirection allows them to appear for the people while assisting the hedge funds.
Just because someone has a reason to lie is reason enough to distrust the information. But it's not evidence that they ARE lying. It's still worth knowing whether innoccent people are being hurt. But yeah, listing the people one's children might mention in a bedtime prayer sounds dubious. "...and please help the police officers and the teachers and the farmers...amen."

:runaway: OMG they're ruining the police and teacher retirements!
