I was in Indy Saturday with the wife, and stopped in the newly reopened Gander Outdoors store while she was at Joann's. I didn't even realize they were going to reopen, let alone that they already had. Store is nice, and I actually had to guys at the gun counter ask if they could help me; both were very friendly. The first one actually went out of his way to show me to the flashlight section.

I saw a Surefire flashlight that I was considering getting, but it appeared to be priced about 20% higher than what I could get it online for, so I passed. Actually ended up getting a different flashlight from REI, but will post about that in another thread.

After seeing the price on the Surefire, I thought "here we go, same old Gander pricing." However, I figured I would take a gander at their pistols because the wife has been looking for a Kimber Micro9 Raptor. They actually had one for about $15 less that Cabelas' sale price. They also had a Gen 5 Glock 19 with night sights for a little less than what I could order it from Bud's Guns for.

I didn't look at any many other prices (ammo, mags, etc.), but was pleased to see at least some of their prices are reasonable. One thing I did notice though is that they had some higher end long guns (Benelli M4, POF AR, etc.).

Yeah, I hate to say that even after the CEO's Trump statement that I went in there and bought something but I did. They had a Pelican case & an ND filter for my Mavic drone for a decent price.

From CNBC and why I DON't buy from REI (they don't like us) :

REI, which does not sell guns, said it will stop purchasing products made by Vista Outdoor until the gun maker publicly states its plan to respond to the Florida shooting rampage that killed 17 people.
Vista products sold by REI included CamelBak water bottles and Camp Chef stoves.
"We believe that it is the job of companies that manufacture and sell guns and ammunition to work towards common sense solutions that prevent the type of violence that happened in Florida last month," REI said in a statement.
"This morning we learned that Vista does not plan to make a public statement that outlines a clear plan of action," it added. "As a result, we have decided to place a hold on future orders of products that Vista sells through REI while we assess how Vista proceeds."
Vista did not respond to requests for comment. Shares of the company, which has a market capitalization of $984 million, were down 10 percent Friday morning. The stock has lost about a quarter of its value since the Feb. 14 massacre.
On Thursday, American Outdoor Brands, formerly Smith & Wesson, saw shares plummet over 20 percent after reporting a large year-on-year sales decline. On Friday, the gun maker's shares slid 2.6 percent.
American Outdoor Brands said its sales fell 32.6 percent year over year in its fiscal third quarter, which it attributed to challenging market conditions for firearms.

I always liked REI, but never really bought much from them. After pulling that garbage, I definitely won’t darken their doorway.

Stopped into the Fort Wayne store yesterday. Firearms prices seemed - generally - competitive same with ammo prices. Accessories seems high. i.e. Peltor 300 Earmuff $120 that are $100 on Amazon, $130 at Midway.

The guys behind the counter said traffic was slow and they were very cognizant of the overpriced reputation of Gander Mountain. Inventory was decent. Ammo selection was ok.

If you want to play their game with a paid membership and buy a couple bigger ticket items and lots of ammo; you might see some savings. Generally, that is too much work for too little if any savings plus, if the price is close, I'd much rather spend at my LGS.
