I have a co worker who is giving me his dryer which is 3 years old and needs a thermostat. All I know is it's a Maytag. How hard is it to change a thermostat? The current dryer I have is at least 15 years old I believe so I don't know how long it will last.

Thermostats are usually pretty easy to change. It's a part most likely to go out, and they plan the replacement like that.

If you get the model #, you should be able to see a manual online, or YouTube it.

If I remember right, my thermostat is on the back of the dryer. I might have to remove a cover. It's been awhile.

As for your 15 year old dryer, dryers made back then lasted longer. I'm using a 22 year old or so dryer.
I'm not buying a dryer till I have to. I haven't heard a lot of people extolling their newer dryers.

    Thanks for the help.

Actaeon, the dryer is running strong. But want a back up just in case because I dont know the history. It came with the house when I bought it last year.
