GENERATOR CORD

i am looking for a generator extension cord. I have looked at lowes, menards, and rural king. most of these places seem to be right around $70 for a name brand 25ft cord. but I found one on ebay that is $72 for a 40 ft cord. my question is has any one used one of these cords or have one similar?

What gauge wire are the others? Also look at the plug type, and insulation material.

Yes, I have a couple from Menards. The products in the links are the same, except length. They're all 10/4 with 30A L14-30 connections.

All you would need beyond the cord is a box with the receptacles and matching plug for the cord.
Price is not out of line.

Why not make your own? May get lucky at Lowes or home depot and find the last bit of a spool they may let go for a discount.

The SO cable they have is not the same as that cord. Unless I have missed something in the stacks.
By the time you get all the bits and spend your time it is near a wash monetarily. JMHO of course.

yea I thought the same thing until I looked at the price of the ends and then buying cable that was comparable to the extension cord. price was almost the same so I figured whynot buy one brand new and already sealed up. im leaning more toward just buying a name brand and not having to worry about the longer cord being a piece of crap. guess its the same as gun parts. buy once and cry once.

The cord on the E-Bay model is Type STW which is hard service and also rated for outdoor use, damp or wet locations. SO is damp locations only.

I wouldn't for the simple reason the plug isn't sealed to the cord.
