Stop applying your own biases to what I said.
You want to speak your own language of clicks and pops while dressed as a large rodent at home go for it.

Don't expect McDonalds to have "Clic,PoP,Pop,clik, clik" (<these are great with bbq sauce) listed on the drive up menu.

    And what if they do?

I'm not thrilled when I walk through Lowe's and see every sign has Spanish along with English*, but I am thrilled that the government isn't tell businesses what language they have to use (or can't use).

    * Mostly because I find Spanish to be a silly language and it grates on my nerves. Except in Rancheros music - I do love that stuff.

Somehow I see karma coming around the corner and biting you on the butt for that comment.

Indiana BMV sued over Driver’s Manual only being offered in English

    Things like this.
Are we supposed to produce manuals in EVERY language and have them available at EVERY branch?
    No.
Should we have multi-language signs on buildings and the roads.?
No. Well, probably a good idea at airports.

Canada says that everything must be in French AND English.
So, should we have that in 2 languages here? Then what happens when someone complains their language isn't one of those 2?

Last time I was in the license branch, 8 out of 10 people were using a cell phone to take the written test.

    I'm kinda with you.

I think where it breaks down is asking the black guy to leave the pool area even after he tells you he lives there. Assuming he's lying gets REALLY close to your second example, especially if the person asking doesn't ask any of the white people that they don't recognize to leave.

Even in your first example, asking the black guy to leave is malicious, even if not intentionally malicious. The asker may not mean any malice to the black guy, but they want him to leave. Because he "looks" like he "doesn't belong."

That's a very narrow gray line between your examples. IMHO.

The property manager didn't recognize him, even though he has been there before. She asked the off duty officer working security for her to ask him to leave because non-residents were using the pool. It was the security managers fault and could have been resolved right there, but it went another way, the other way.

.....Which in turn leads to my second apology: for forgetting that we, as a country, already did try this whole need-to-know-English-to-be-a-citizen thing. That experiment in social engineering was absolutely racist. I don't think that rationale is something we should look to return to....

How is a language a basis to be racist? That makes absolutely no sense.

White guy from France (apologies to Sylvain) immigrates to American and demands we accommodate him and only speak French.
Au contraire mon frère, time to learn that engrish. That's racist against white european dudes?

Most of the immigrants the law few years have been from China. Look it up.

Here for college? You ain't gettin' very far without a handle on English in that case.

Picking avacados or sheet rocking, Spanish is good 'nuff.

My point was, if an argument to change the language, more immigrants are from China. Just pointing out Spanish might be in the minority of foreign languages in the United States.
