Looking at a LNL AP. It's in my shopping cart along with a Hornady reloading manual, a set of dies for 9mm and a shellplate and a Hornady auto powder dispenser What else will i need to buy to load 9mm?

    -Cheapo calipers
-Probably want a manual scale at some point, not critical if your auto takes care of that
-Inertia hammer to take down rounds that you make incorrectly.
-Boxes to put your finished rounds in as well as perhaps labels to put on them to remind you of the load. I use scrap pieces of paper that say "Lot 19" and have a program that tracks my lots
-(not required)Extra small pistol primer pick-up tube. Wish I had about 3 of these.
-Primer flip tray to align the primers. I bought the RCBS one because it was the cheapest at the time.

Also for the LnL, get an extra index Pawl or a pack of 2. Supposedly the most common part to break when you are learning. Sucks to be down for 2 days while Hornady sends you another. They are cheap. Also, get a 3 pack of the springs that wrap around the shellplate. Easy to stretch them out or break them while you are learning. Also cheap, and also not worth being down for a few days. I have needed a second spring as I overstretched mine while troubleshooting. I have not broken a pawl yet.

    thanks for the quick replies!

i don't want it to be like Christmases of my youth where the "batteries were not included" and back then there was no such thing as a store open on Christmas to get them :)

I want to have in my shopping cart everything that I need to load a 9mm cartridge and go outside and fire it off the next day after receiving the goods.

I do have plenty of brass, know I need bullets, primers, and powder. Guess that was really the direction of my original question. I am sure I will want to buy stuff down the road perhaps for rifle etc, but for now, what do I NEED to have ie my SHOPPING LISt :)

as background, my uncle back in WV reloads and he loaded up a bunch of 9mm rounds for me years ago (maybe a 1000) and I have now shot them all. So I can't remember all the stuff we had to have that day to do it, but thats where I want to be when I open up the box from UPS :)

Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for and I have already received a partial shipment. Constructing a couple more orders to go in over the next month or so so when it gets cold, I got something other than amateur radio to look forward to indoors!

Because of this, I will overlook your tag line as I am a Beretta fan :)

    Started ordering this list verbatim!

I have $25/paycheck budgeted out for what the gift cards won't cover, and if St. Nicholas is kind, i might be able to spend the month of January learning to reload!

There is a world of difference between what you will NEED and what others think you should have. Go to the range and pick up a whole bunch of ammo boxes out of the trash.
You don't NEED a bullet puller, until you WANT to pull a bullet.
If you are loading bottleneck cases (not straight wall cases), you will want some way to check case length. Some simply run their brass through a Lee Case Trimmer and never measure.
You will want your barrel at the bench to use as a case gage.
You can wipe off each case with a rag and forego the tumbler.
Beware those telling you what you NEED

Good advice. I grabbed the collet bullet puller as well as the inertia hammer, although I would vote that you NEED at least the hammer. It's cheap and you'll make a mistake at some point.

My situation was buy everything I MIGHT NEED at once. I had approval for a single order from the wife, and if I had to make 5 small orders nickle and diming our budget, I was going to get more than the evil eye. It was a buy once, cry once, one fell swoop type of order. Most of the time in our house it works that way. Better to make a single order for $100 more than I quoted her than her to see 3 orders to midway over the course of 2 weeks. Ahh, the joy of marrying a financial planner. :xmad::xmad:
