The tactical response 1000 round test is funny to me. Everyone says "Wow. The guide rod broke and it still kept firing." Yet they don't seem to talk about the few malfunctions it had and the fact that a piece of the gun BROKE.

yup, seen those, but you're missing the point.

I'm waiting for the King to post some up with HIS gun, since he hates Glocks so much. ;)
    Oh, gotcha.

    :)

I might have to fire the 1911 underwater for my next trick... I would have the first YouTube video of 8+ rounds being fired by a 1911 in this way.

Oh, I have FAR more planned for the G17. My dealer is going to hook me up with a cheap one (used) that I will absolutely destroy. I'll fire it underwater, leave it in mud filed with salt for a week, drag it behind my Jeep for a couple miles, etc. to see how it does. For the grand finale I might even blow it up with 2lbs of Tannerite. :)

I've actually thought about doing a test and may at some point. However, none of my guns are stock so it wouldn't be an accurate comparison/example of what a run of the mill 1911 is capable of. Also, it has been done before so for me to do a test would be redundant. I don't find torturable to be a highly admirable quality. I'm confident my guns will work in the conditions I use them in. I'm in no danger needing to use either of my chosen platforms after a year of being buried in the ground.

Mostly glock's reliability/durability are not features I'm willing to disparage. They are that. Guns are machines and it is quite understandable if they fail at times. Witnessing an example of a few malfunctions in X gun isn't a death blow to it's overall worth. Anyone who has spent enough time at public ranges has probably seen an example of malfunctions in almost any gun.

My first post was simply to question why that particular video is one of the flagships of glock reliability considering the malfunctions and the guide rod issue.

P.S. I think melted fits nicely under the umbrella term of broken.
