I heard from a pretty reliable source today that Glock is coming out with a .380 made in the US.
It is gonna be the Glock model 40. Possibly released at 2014 shot show.
Anyone else heard of this?
Might be the first step towards a single stack 9.......Wishful thinking???
I have not heard about a new .380 Glock model 40. However, Glock currently makes 2 .380 ACP pistols already, the Glock 25 (compact size) and the Glock 28 (sub-compact size). They are sold around the world (not in the US due to some stupid import laws), but with Glocks now being built in the US it would not surprise me if Glock starts to offer the G25 & G28 for sale in the US.
For the US market, 1) Glock collectors and 2) people who can't handle or don't like the recoil of a small 9mm (same reason why Ruger sells the LC380). For foreign markets, they sell well in countries that prohibit citizens from owning firearms chambered in "military" calibers.
I've sold a bunch of LC380's. Even more than LC9's in the last couple months. I can see a Glock .380 selling here in the states. Especially the sub-compact version. We shall see.
I bought a LC380 for my 24 yr old daughter and she loves it. I won't give it to her until she get her pink slip. The carrot in front of the horse trick
Yeah, I'm aware of the G25 and G28. I feel pretty confident that the G40 is a go.
Not sure if it is sub compact or what though.
Guess we will have to wait and see.
I could see my wife wanting a G28 Subcompact .380...for CCing around! She likes her Gen II G-19...and LOVES her Springfield XDm 3.8 9mm...but for convenience and comfort...she'd probably go for a subcompact Glock .380! She has long slender hands and the little .380's currently out there are just too small in her grip. A slightly larger .380 would be 'just right' for her! Her first gun was a Beretta Cheetah .380...and we wish now we'd of never sold it! It's not a great round, but with the improvements in bullet design and propellants...I could see her carrying a .380!
