I was curious if magazines for a Glock 17 would work in a Glock 19. I'd like to participate in the next Friday night steel event at MCFG.

Ok, I get it. Is there an advantage of having one over the other? Don't the single and double hold the same amount?

Its more about grip size. If you had a double stack .45acp it would be a very large grip diameter with almost 1 inch just in ammo. So the smaller diameter can easily get 2x stacked and larger single. AR mags are 2x stacked, but I had a PA-63 (9x18) that was single stack as it was a small frame hand gun.

To give you a comparison, the Glock 36, a single-stack subcompact .45, has a 6-round mag. The G30, a double-stack subcompact in the same caliber, holds 10. The tradeoff is in grip thickness. A double-stack will have a notably thicker grip, which, depending on the individual and intended method of carry, can impede comfort and concealment.
