You'll learn that not all ducks are equal when it comes to eating them.
this. a nice fat mallard can taste pretty darn good roasted whole, but many other ducks need some help. as far as goose, i usually make jerky out of the breasts, then slow simmer the rest and make into soup with rice and veggies.

p.s. have a great time, and be prepared to spend all your extra time and money on your new hobby.

Geese I got to where I just filleted the breasts out and saved the liver and that was it. There isn't much on the legs. I made stir fry with the breast meat (marinate it in soy sauce). Don't overcook it or it will taste like liver. Per above duck tastes vary. Mallards and woodies are pretty good. The wife loved it when I got a mess of teal. I didnt because she wanted them all plucked because they looked so pretty.

I'm going goose and duck hunting this weekend ( Geese saturday, duck sunday) I was wondering any tips?

    How to prepare?

    1. Put on on all your clothing.
    2. Go to an HEB (Texas chain) or similar grocery store and ask to stand in a tub of water in the freezer while an employee sprays you with a water hose.
    3. Do this all day until you lose feeling in most of your body.

This is the best training for duck hunting that you can undergo.:D

Goose hunting was great. We each got our limit and I learned how to do field repairs on a 12 gauge in 40 mph wind.
