I've got the Indiana Life Time Carry Permit. I'm driving to Georgia with my family and I'd like to bring my 38. What are the ''DO's'' and ''DON'TS'' as I travel into Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia?
I want to make sure I stay legal.
    1. Is it OK just to have it in the car as I travel from state to state?
    2. Can I carry in any of these states?
    3. If it's OK to have it in the car, does it have to be out of my reach to be legal?
    THANKS!!!

Handgunlaws.com is a good site. usacarry.com is another I refer to. Regardless, when you carry in another state that honors an IN permit, be sure to check the following:

    - Do you have a duty to notify if you are stopped by a cop?
    - What places are off limits to carry? Differs by state.
    - Can you carry in restaurants / places that serve alcohol?
    - is open carry allowed?

Having once taken a similar trip, I remember that we would not have any issues in the states we traveled through (IN, KY, TN, GA and FL) - but only afetr we familairized ourselves with the above questions for each state. However, I have no experience with AL and I know that SC does not recognize an IN permit and also does not recognize any permit issued to a non-resident of the states whose permits are honored by SC.

:+1: to both those sites. Be sure to check HOW you are allowed to carry as well. For example, if you are in the car, are you allowed to have your gun holstered? In the glovebox? Or does it need to be prominently displayed? For example, up until recently, Ohio required that a firearm be in plain sight when you carry in your vehicle.

    BTW: Note that it's "handgunlaw.us", not "handgunlaw.com".

If you are out on the road and need to know quickly, here is a mobile version you can use courtesy of the USCCA: Travel Reciprocity - Mobile Devices

ETA - Hmm.. well, let me know if you need to log-in or something to use that mobile version. I don't remember logging in from my iPhone when I use it there, but I see that it says "members only" right on the page. I know the full (non-mobile) version does require me to log in.
