I got to do a little shooting today on my backyard range. I started with my M&P9, then my Benelli pump gun and finally my custom barreled LMT AR. As I was finishing up I heard some car doors slam at the neighbors house( wife's sisters house ) and start to police my brass. I lookup and there is my sister in laws idiot husband and another guy I dont know staring at me from their yard. I got a really weird vibe from the stranger hauled everything back to the house. About 10 minutes later my sister in law comes over to borrow some printer paper and her hubby shows up a couple minutes later after his visitor had left. His visitor( coworker) had been there to look at a truck he wanted to buy. Turns out he had just got out of prison after a 12 year sentence for multiple offense like assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and drug dealing. So now I have a violent felon who knows I have firearms in my house as well as a idiot neighbor that has such scum as house guests. I have been looking into a reinforced door to my Gunsafe room and the others as well as the 3M security and privacy window film that makes windows extremely diffiicult to break.

Wow, that puts you in a pickle! I don't want to judge anyone, but I would personally worry a bit! Definetly sleep with one eye open! By the way how did you find out he was a felon? Regardless watch your assets!
    Stay armed and stay safe!

The fact that you got a weird vibe before knowing his history should tell you something. definitely be cautious. Consider an alarm and cameras. And of course a big dog is always a good idea if you know you can take care of it.
    Good luck to you.

I wouldn't sweat too hard since there are a few ex felons on here that know you have an arsenal, no real security and neighbors that are dingy. They could have gotten you by now but haven't.

Maybe he was unaware that it was "legal" to shoot in your backyard.
Or sad because he can't buy guns now.
Btw when do you leave for that vacation? lol
I joke to make you laugh.
It could be worse he could be dating your youngest daughter.

Stay safe. Bring the guns with you whenever you go on vacation.

Change your alarm codes and locks because I bet your inlaws have copies of both the keys and code for emergencies, right!

Insure and deter is all u can do in the end.

Good luck. Sorry you got pooped on while having fun.

You know, when you get that strange vibe you got from the ex-con, it is time for action. A yappy dog and a security system should be in your future.

Is there a home security thread? I'd be interested in hearing other people's methods.

My current away-from-home security consists of two housecats. Ferocious (when on catnip) as they are, obviously I would like something more.

This is where the neighbors knowing you are 'nuts' and armed to the teeth is a good thing.

If you neighbor says "yeah he has guns, but he's harmless" thats bad.

My neighbors always say the same thing "You break into his house or cars you're going to be deader than heck, that guy is NUTS!"

Having ppl know you ahve firearms is a double edged sword. Having lived in the ghetto I can tell you that once they know a "crazy guy with an <insert eveil black rifle here>, there is a 'respect' that wasn't there before.

Criminals only respect (read- understand) strength.

I don't ever try and down play my stance on home defense or try and "calm" a neighbor. I let them know I am deadly serious about defending myself, my family and my property. I also make sure they know I am capable and always prepared.

No matter where you live, someones brother, sister, cousin or auntie is a hardened criminal. Don't be "harmless gun owner" or you'll wind up having to prove them wrong.

The same idiot inlaw neighbor managed to tell about everyone he knows that I am always armed (and "paranioid")before I shut him up. Yes my rural neighborhood know that I am the "anti obama right wing extemist gun nutt Veteran":ar15::) with the loud guns that ran off the Meth heads up the road. My closest neighbors on both sides are family, they work various shifts and are well armed country folks. The idiot is a couple of houses away but my range is visible from his property. I also try to be one of the nicest most helpfull community minded folks in the area. " A armed society is a polite society" I am very friendly with the local LEO's, they stop quite a bit to chat about things when they pass through. In laws do not and will not have keys or codes for my house.
I already have several large dogs and a few small yappy ones. I occasionally do foster care for the humane society. I am always looking for another 4 legged land shark to patrol the acreage. I keep the idiot intentionally in the dark about what I have and my homes security measures. No one goes any farther into my house than the living room and guest bathroom. Sorry for another rant but I am mostly irritated that he hangs out with criminals and brings them into the neighborhood.

Is he by chance an Obama supporter (and by supporter, I mean he is so close to the POTUS's genitalia that he is LITERALLY supporting his holiness' sack)? It seems to me that folks that bring ex-cons into the mix are generally socialist in nature; feel that they are superior to those around them because of their allegedly superior intellect, and feel that they might offend a person if they "Judge" them based on either their look, demeanor, or previous history (they did their bid - or at least part of it - and if the parole board believes that they are fit to return to society, then they MUST be good citizens again ). IMHO, this person is a classic example of Sheeple mentality. As such, he puts undeserved trust in ex-cons, probably genuinely believeing that he is an ok guy, that he will never do it again, and that his family, home, and posessions are PERFECTLY safe around him.

I wish you the best of luck, brother. Remain vigilant, and pray for the souls of the Sheeple. They will need it.

    OMFG!!

You are now really trying to say that Obama supporters are criminals or support criminals? What in the ^%$ is your problem?

You know that biker gangs (real gangs not "riding clubs") & the KKK are some of the most "god-fearing Christian," anti-communist/socialist, anti-government, pro-gun & obviously anti-Obama conservatives around... & some of them are some of the most violent members of our society who have records for "multiple offense like assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and drug dealing" or worse.

Violent criminals tend to flock together, whatever their political affiliations, rednecks or gangbangers, Army of God or Earth Liberation Front.

A$$&0les come in all flavors not just liberal Democrat socialist Obama supporters.

This crap from some people is really getting asinine.

OR, the dude just wanted to sell his truck. I mean, that's why he was there, not to hang out, but to show the ex-con his truck he wanted to buy. You guys act like they are old friends.

On that same note, I would've met him in a parking lot cuz I wouldn't want him to know where I live, but cash is king, if the guy wants to buy it, ex con or not, i'm gonna sell it.

First of all....... if I had ANY idea what in the ^%$ my problem was, I would first tell my wife - because she has been asking me that same thing for 7 years now, and it seems to me that she should be the FIRST to know! :):

Now, to address your pathetic rant....... NEVER in my post did I ask if the ex-con was and OBAMATARD supporter, or for that matter - YOU. Nor did I suggest that DEMOCRATS support EX-CONS. What I did mention, if you even bothered to read it before flinging your poo like a rabid monkey, was that SOCIALISTS tend to favor ex-cons, and that most said SOCIALISTS like to think that they are smarter than the rest of us, that they are a better judge of character in people. I INFERRED, if you can comprehend such language, that the OP should watch his backside, with his idiot neighbor bringing ex-cons into the neighborhood - all while pointing out the OP's belongings! NOW, to further clarify my intent for your clearly impaired judgement....... I do not associate with EX-CONS. I do not wish to associate with EX-CONS. I do not now, nor do I ever, wish to be in the OP's spot - as I personally have no faith in EX-CONS. Did I make myself clear enough for you this time, Junior?

For future reference, if you are going to quote something I post, and then rant about it, at least have the decency to READ my post - to ensure that you are ranting about the correct thing!

Thanks for your time and understanding! :D

    No problem...glad to help :D

Maybe you need to re-read your own post.

I guess the question, "Is he by chance an Obama supporter (and by supporter, I mean he is so close to the POTUS's genitalia that he is LITERALLY supporting his holiness' sack)?" - was just coincidentally placed in front of the following (therefore, normally, related) next statement - "It seems to me that folks that bring ex-cons into the mix are generally socialist in nature;"

Sorry if I misunderstood & I got the impression from your post (& from many of your other political posts) that Obama supporter=liberal=Democrat=socialist=sheep=anti-gun=criminal supporter/criminal.

I'm more than willing to keep politics out of these (supposedly) non-political forum discussions but if you (or anybody else for that matter) continue to make asinine assertions, forgive me if I point them out.
