Go to jayfisher.com and look around on his site. He has a pretty good discussion there of some of the metallurgical considerations. He's an opinionated custom maker - but backs it up fairly well with science. Worthwhile reading in any case. And if you're the type to freak out over high custom knife prices - his site ain't for you....
