Gun owner reacts after weapons stolen, then returned with anonymous note | Watch the video - Yahoo! News

In case you hate watching the videos too, a Florida man left a handgun in his car, which was unlocked.
Someone stole it, and he found it unloaded and wrapped in a plastic bag on his porch with the words "lots of kids in the area" written on it.

Not that it couldn't have been stolen off the porch too, but still anecdotal.

Glad the gun owner got his gun back. Would have been more fuel for the Anti's...

On a related note, take it with you or lock it up out of plain sight. :twocents:

On the other side of the bag the gun was returned in "loaded gun left in car=stupid"
Also the ammo was not returned.

    Loaded in an un-locked car...plain site=:n00b:

Wonder if he is one of the morons who left a kid locked in a car (100 deg) while he shopped. Just saying.

He is lucky and dumb. That gun could be robbing people as we speak because he leaves it in an unlocked car. The cops should of arrested him lol.

Leaving it in plain sight in an unlocked car might draw the attention even from kids that normally wouldn't be getting into other people's things. There are many younger kids that love guns from TV, movies, and video games yet don't have parents that are into them. They don't have a positive influence that will teach them about gun safety. They might see the unlocked car with gun in plain sight and decide to check it out. Guy was an idiot. If you want to leave a gun in plain sight with your car unlocked, clean out the garage and park inside with a security system on your garage (actually all entryways into the house). It is about personal responsibility.

If he was that careless/stupid to leave a gun in a car and a unlocked one to boot he doesn't need to get it back. The only plus is that it did not end up in a criminals hands. If someone would have been hurt with the weapon it would have been more fodder for the Anti-gun Libs.

There was a thread on INGO not too long ago in which the OP's son removed the ammo from his carry gun.

It never was really explained why, but I imagine it was something similar to why this guy had his gun taken/returned like this.
