    +1 for FNX - 40 or FNX -9. All controls are completely ambi, comes with multiple backstraps, 3 high capacity magazines, and a pretty nice case for under $600. IMO it is a fantastic value.

    Got to working on that XDM this evening, trying some lube. I hadn't realized it, but it's an ambi mag release. There's no frame safety, and the slide lock is easy to release if you wrap your thumb around. I'm used to doing stuff like that anyway. Mag release is better, but not there yet.

    left handed guns

    I have been looking to buy a handgun, it will be my first. I was wanting to buy a XDM 40. I have handeled a couple of them and they felt great. The issue I had with them was the slide release. It was very uncomfortable to use.

    So what are the best ambidextrous handguns at under $600?

    I'm a lefty also :rockwoot: Thanks to all who posted info all ambi guns. I didnt know that so many companies made or that could be lefty handguns. My four pistols are set up as ambi safetys. But no right side slide releases. I see a new excuse to get a new lefty handgun :D

    the sig p250 also has a slide release on both side. if you are looking for a cheaper gun. But i'am with most guy that shoot lefty i use my middle finger to release the mag
