12 or 18 inch, SAE, adjustable. Been between the groundhog and their den on a tractor. I used the tool that was available at he time.

    Left or right handed?

Right? I've got squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits. And an occasional coon or possum. But damn, these guys (and gals) have groundhogs, turkeys, coyote, foxes and deer! It'd be like being Marlin Perkins every day. :):

The Boss says we have a literal Noah's Ark going here.

The coon destroyed part of the corn patch, I caught two in the live trap last night :):
I have it set again for tonight.

The issue with ground hogs is if your neighbor has them, you have them...

I have a river on two sides of my property, but one side is state fish & wildlife ground...
So constant supply of ground hogs no matter how many I dispatch.

Now, I'm not saying to break the law and pick off hogs on the state land,
But you have to do what you have to at some point...

How about some coyotes? Mongo59 has some pups he's trying to give away.

You *COULD* get a good recipe for ground hog and then they aren't so unwelcome...

It's actually good meat on the younger ones, but people freak out because it's a rodent.

I flour & brown it, then into the pressure cooker.
Enough fat that when you add a little water and more flour it makes it's own gravy.
When the meat falls off the bone, it's done.

Usually some ground hog in the freezer, but like fatty pork, you want to use if fairly quickly, about 6 months is all you want to leave it or it will frost/freezer burn.

Not exactly USDA approved, but who cares on your own place!

Since most chucks taken w HP rifle and frangible bullets (for safety) they tend to be non edible.
Rimfire noggin stuff, on a younger one.............have done that for farmers that wanted to eat em.
Hot..............who wants to mess with cleaning them in this weather, having a cooler?
Blood aint fun in summer, not w yellow jackets (and being allergic).

Heard they have some glands that need removed.
    I never cleaned one.

The few the farmers wanted, they did.
Rimfired em since they were closer to the house.
Pop w .22 mag, fetch and knock on the door kinda thing.

Much rather send 6mm Nosler BT's at distance. Mo' funner.
Proly put my 3.5-10X VX3i on the 700 when it comes back.

Not a serious chuck rig, but doable.
    A Ruger #1 B in .243 or .25-06 would be cool.
Alas, the one I just got is in .280
But I heard they make 100gr varmint bullets.............................
