If I am legally carrying a handgun in my vehicle (and the firearm is on my person/in my possession) and a convicted felon is also in the vehicle, are they in violation in any way, shape or form?

"Possession" can be attributed to anyone in the vehicle given the right circumstances.

In a holster and on your hip will probably preclude possession being attributed to another passenger. Under the passenger seat, not so much. In the trunk and only you have the key, probably OK. IANAL.

If youre the one carrying I wouldnt think that the "felon", for lack of a better way to reference this person, could be doing anything wrong. Its your gun, on your person, in your (?) car so how can they be doing anything wrong? If youre that concerned with it you should call a PD and ask them. I dont mean that in a rude or condescending way, text has no way to show emotion. Just wanted to clarify that.

The convicted felon can only get into trouble if he/she is thinking about grabbing your pistol, shooting you in the head, driving your car to the closest ATM to empty your bank account, and continuing on a multi-state crime spree.

If the convicted felon is not thinking of doing these things, there shouldn't be any problem.

    I wouldn't worry about it.:)

You have nothing to worry about assuming it's someone you can and do trust. The felon on the other hand, if on probation/parole and has been ordered to stay away from firearms may have something to worry about.

You can trust a felon? :dunno:

    :D

Bounce a check over $500 and dont clear it up in 45 days, you can become a felon. Buddy of mine got caught with enough pot for everyday of his 2 week vacation. He is now a felon. Never hurt anyone, never stole from anyone and would be quick to help anyone that needed it. I still trust him.

Oh come on now. You know that EVERY felony automatically & FOREVER paints you as having bad character from which you can NEVER redeem yourself.
