Cut vinyl stickers, sometimes called die cut stickers, are the premium stickers of the industry. Cut vinyl stickers have no "background", no square or circular patch, and are completely cut out of sheets of vinyl. These stickers do not wear, fade, or smear like many of the silk screened or paper stickers on the market today. There is no ink or printed solvents to get damaged. Cut vinyl stickers consist of 3 parts:
The Backing:
Like any sticker, cut vinyl stickers utilize a backing material to carry the decal. This is similar to any type of peel and stick sticker on the market today. The backing is discarded after the sticker is removed.
The Vinyl Sticker:
The vinyl sticker is sandwiched in between the backing and the masking. Since there is no "background" this sticker is held together by the masking and has undergone a "weeding" process to remove all the unwanted parts of the sticker such as the negative space.
The Masking:
The masking is nothing more than lightly adhesive material cut in the shape of the backing to hold the pieces of the sticker together until it is applied to the surface that has been prepared for it. This too is discarded after the sticker is applied. The masking and the backing will be discarded leaving just the vinyl decal on its prepared surface. No "background" or "patch".
