I live in Franklin, and I have a couple of OLD guns I'd like to have checked out by a gunsmith before I put ammo through 'em.

Most important is a C96 broomhandle Mauser that was made in '33. It seem like the action may be a bit stiff, but I'd like to check it out first.

Are there any gunsmiths in my area who could give it the once-over? (Also, I have an S&W 38 with a really heavy trigger pull I'd like to have brought down a bit...)

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to where I can take 'em.

The closest and probably the best gunsmith around is Gary Growe of Growes Gun Shop on st rd 46 just off of I65 in Columbus.I have had sights replaced on a 1911 and a triger job done on my Rem 700 prarie dog gun but from what I have heard these tasked are way below his abilities. This must be true because a good smith is always busy if you can find one.The last time i checked with him was about two months from taking any more work so if you want something done you need to plan ahead.
