I saw scotch posted this last week. It would be pretty awful. 50% on ammo, 20% on firearms, $200 to $500 and $5 to $200 on NFA taxes "to account for inflation." It's all a bunch of bull that wouldn't do anything but hurt good gun owners, I don't know how that could even be argued the other way. It'll hit manufactures and we will see it on the shelf, I know some of the licenses like an SOT double in cost as well.
They are also looking for a direct way to fund CDC and other "grant" researchers on gun violence in an effort to promote more junk science on firearms ownership, as evidenced by the following quote from the summary.
"The bill allocates revenues from the increased excise tax under this bill for law enforcement and public safety grant programs, including programs for research on gun violence and its prevention."
I've seen this referenced in another thread. You have to hand it to the democrats and other anti-gun folks, they never give up. Just like water, they keep trying until they find a way in and try to rot whatever they can.
It has a total of nine co-sponsors, including the "at large" delegate from DC. All Democrats, of course. Not exactly overwhelming early support. Even the anti's in Congress know to focus their efforts on something that is more likely to pass.
Naw ... it's a "stimulus package", kinda like Cash For Clunkers ... designed to get us all out buying up everything on the shelf at our local retailer.
