I was having a little range day with my brothers yesterday. And we were shooting my RRA AR15. The very first time I shot it, I had a FTF. I performed the TAP/RACK/BANG! method. Nothing, and I noticed the cartridge never ejected. So I ejected the mag, racked the charging handle again. And I had 2 cartridges fly out.

I picked them up, and one was good. The other, well, not so good. It was a factory Rem. that I bought from Wal-Mart. And the crimping on it was just horrible. The bullet was in the casing, but it was way inside, with powder just pouring out, when I turned it upside down.
    I took some pictures.

    That sucks.

I've had that problem with a .45acp round once. It was a carry round so after being chambered repeatedly the bullet started to get shoved into the casing.

Bad rounds make it through, I was with a friend shooting his AR and somehow a .222 got into a bunch of .223 ammo. The bolt assembly failed to grab the round, it just jammed the round in.

You shoot enough and a bad round or two is just a given

Sweet rifle by the way :ar15:

Was this the only round that, or was this a re-occurring issue?

I've never seen a bullet set-back that far before. Wow.

if this was the only round to do that it no big deal but if repeated then there is a problem with the weapon.

    That was the only round.

I shot 1,000 rounds flawlessly right after that first round.

I've never had any problems with this AR.

Sounds like a FTE followed by a double feed. The second round was slammed into the back of the first round caused the bullet to smash into the casing.
