Tested out my new loads for deer yesterday at Mongo Gun Range and my middy loves this load:

    Hornady 325 FTX
    Starline brass (new)
    CI 350 primer
    IMR 4198 36 grains
    COL 2.2

Was knocking out the center of a bullseye at 100 yards.

Thanks for the replies, I too got my data from the 458socom forum, just got a little concerned with some functioning issues I read about. Went with 38gr of the 4198 and a 300gr remmy HP and beat the bullseye out at 100yds! Now if the 12th of Nov. will just get here!!!

The 300 gr. Remington JHP shoots really well and the are pretty cheap too. Better buy them in bulk when you find them... they dont last long. I want to try Hornady's 300 gr JHP and see how it shoots in comparison. Any idea on the velocity of your load with 4198?
